Luz Reyes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home on Feb. 12, 2026.
Luz Mercedes Reyes, 57, passed away on January 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion to family. She was born on November 6, 1968, in Puerto Rico to Basilio Rivera Vizcorrondo and Luz Pabón Díaz. Her life's journey carried her from Puerto Rico to Rhode Island, where she met the love of her life, Johnny Reyes.

In time, Luz returned to Puerto Rico before later moving to New York and eventually North Carolina. Around 2001, she and Johnny settled in Charlotte, the place they would call home for more than two decades. Wherever she lived, Luz brought warmth, generosity, and a deep sense of connection that made others feel welcomed and loved.

Luz found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved watching foreign films on Netflix, exploring new recipes in the kitchen, and shopping for little things that brought her and her family happiness. But more than anything, Luz cherished time spent with those she loved. Family was the center of her world, and she poured her heart into every moment shared with them.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Johnny; their children, Josiah, Mosiah, and Genesis; her father, Basilio; and her sister, Yadira. Luz is further survived by numerous extended family members, friends, and her beloved church family at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Thompson Road, all of whom will carry her memory forward with gratitude and affection.

Services are being planned for March, with details to be updated once finalized.

Luz's life was a testament to love, faith, and the enduring strength of family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
