V. William "Bill" Depas, 88, of Lakewood, N.Y., passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at UPMC Chautauqua following a short illness.
Bill was born on December 30, 1935, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of the late Seraphim and Athena Stavredon Depas.
Bill attended Jamestown High School, and he served in the U.S. Army. He worked at Maddox Table Company.
Bill was a member of Lakewood American Legion Post#1286 and Celoron Legion Post# 777 Herman Kent. Bill was an avid golfer and a member of South Hills Country Club, where he took part in the skins game for many years. Bill attended Fluvanna Community Church and Church on the Rock.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Depas who died in 2018, whom he married on December 22, 1991; his stepdaughter: Sondra D. Payne; three brothers: Chris Depas, Gust (Roberta) Depas, Simon (Nina) Depas and three sisters: Mary (Dale) Matie, Franny (Theodore) Papageorge and Martha (Jack) Parry.
Bill is survived by his sons: Randall W. Depas of Lakewood, N.Y., Robert (Judy) Spencer of Jamestown, N.Y. and Richard Spencer of Busti, N.Y.; a brother: Thomas Depas (Pat) of Ashland, VA; stepson: Scot A. (Joanna) Hedlund of Jamestown, N.Y.; four grandchildren: Monica, Maggie, Rachael and Ashton Spencer; a great-granddaughter: Ruby Spencer; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
Family and friends may visit Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home, Inc., 316 E. 5th Street Jamestown, N.Y. on Friday, December 27th from noon until 2PM. A memorial service will be held at 2PM.
