Naples – Vincent James "Jim" Indiveri, 89, passed away on Thursday, February 26, at Avow Hospice. He was the beloved husband of Carol-Ann (Roberts) Indiveri.
Jim was born on February 8, 1937, in New York, NY, the son of the late Vincent L. and Olga Marie (Bellini) Indiveri.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his children: Renee M. Mareski and her husband, Joseph A. Mareski, of
Bedminster, NJ; Dr. James Indiveri of
Kansas City, KS; and Jodi A. Pharis and her husband, Steven P. Pharis, of
Naples, FL. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara A, and her husband, Vito A. Bonavoglia, of
Bohemia, NY; and his sister-in-law, Mary A. Indiveri, of
Royersford, PA.
Jim was especially proud of his four grandchildren: Liane Taylor Pharis, Steven James Pharis, Maxwell Hunter Indiveri, and Gabriella Faith Indiveri.
He is also survived by his nephews Richard Indiveri, Scott Indiveri, Sean Indiveri, and Dr. Anthony Bonavoglia, as well as his niece, Lisa Bonavoglia Mackie. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard J. Indiveri.
Jim was raised in
Larchmont, NY, and was educated at Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle, New York. He later graduated from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, Class of 1958.
After graduation, Jim served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps at Cherry Point Air Base in North Carolina. He continued his military service in the reserves for many years and attained the rank of Major.
Following his military career, Jim pursued a career with Chubb Life Insurance, where he achieved the title of Vice President of Group Sales in
Short Hills, NJ. He was employed by Chubb for over 35 years.
Jim and Carol-Ann raised their family in
Basking Ridge, NJ. Jim was an active member and officer of Roxiticus Golf Club in Mendham, NJ. He was also a devoted parishioner of St. James Catholic Church in
Basking Ridge, NJ. Jim coached CYO basketball, leading his team to win the Somerset County Championship in 1977. He also participated in local theatre productions, sang in the St. James Choir, and coached Bernards Township Little League and Pop Warner football.
Jim loved sports, especially cheering on his alma mater, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, whenever he could. He enjoyed playing golf and competitive tennis at Pennbrook Country Club during the short New Jersey summers. He was an avid gardener and loved grilling and entertaining friends and family on his back patio. Jim also loved music and was an excellent piano player.
After retiring in 1996, Jim and Carol-Ann relocated to
Naples, FL, where he continued to play golf and enjoy the year-round summer weather. They were parishioners of St. Ann Catholic Church and long-time members of the choir.
Jim's tremendous sense of humor and infectious laugh will be missed by all who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a date and time to be announced at St. Ann Catholic Church, 985 3rd St.,
Naples, FL 34102. Burial will be private.
