Valerie Elizabeth Treadway Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025, surrounded by love and grace. Born on Elk Mountain in Pennsylvania, on March 8, 1948, she came to know Jesus at age 8. This marked how she lived the rest of her life, with devotion and the warmth of her faith in every gesture. A devoted school teacher and woman of deep faith, she touched countless lives with her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering belief in God. She survived breast cancer twice and faced liver disease with quiet courage, her resilience shaped by faith, not by struggle. She is survived by Steve Treadway, her loving husband of 55 years; two daughters, Shelly Treadway and Gina Treadway-Gibbs; her son-in-law, Chad Gibbs; and her granddaughter, Gracyn Gibbs. She also leaves behind her brothers and their wives, Thomas and Martha Butler and Richard and Debbie Butler; her sister, Carol Woodruff; and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews-all of whom she cherished deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and Bernice Butler and two brothers, Kenneth Butler and David Butler, and brother-in-law Kenneth Woodruff, whose memories she carried throughout her life. In retirement, she found joy behind the lens of a camera-capturing nature's quiet miracles and, as she liked to say, "shaking hands with the bears." Her photography was more than a hobby; it was a prayer in images. She was also very active in her church and loved her church family dearly and found community in shared worship, laughter, and service. Probably her most cherished pastime in retirement was spoiling and spending time with her granddaughter Gracyn Elizabeth. Her legacy lives on in every student she taught, every photo she framed, and every heart she held with quiet grace. She lived with devotion, loved without pretense, and gave generously to those around her. Val has fought the good fight, she has finished her race, she has kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 In memory, gifts can be donated to the Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry. +1 770-985-5229 Arrangements by Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 209 South Hammond Drive, Monroe, Georgia 30655. 770.267.2594. October 3, 2025

Art and Denise Smith loved Val! She was so loving and walked us through so many journeys of renewing our strength when we returned from living abroad. Her prayers coupled with care for Torrie and Winston (Shelly´s fur friends) helped us all depend on Jesus. Our prayers are with you all as you celebrate her life and legacy! Until we see her again...
