CHARLOTTE – Valerie Allen Goode York, born January 31,1950 in Charlotte, NC peacefully passed at her home with her family, Sunday August 17, 2025, after a long battle with breast cancer.
She attended Vardell Hall Prep and graduated from Penn Hall Jr. College. She met and then married her husband Stan at Resurrection Church on October 4th, 1975. Mother to six children, an avid gardener and lover of trees, she dedicated her time volunteering with local organizations and helping those in need.
Valerie lived by her own words of wisdom "Use your actions and words to support your community in every way, everyday."
Proceeded in death by her parents, Vernon and Julia Goode. Survived by her husband, Dr. Harold Stanley "Stan" York, children - Lyndsey Durham Robbins (Mark), William Stanley York (Emily), Elizabeth "Bess" Alexander York, Catherine Noel Edwards (Ralph), Colin Montgomery York (Katherine), and Susannah Painter York. She has six grandchildren - Mary, Connell, Lelia, Julia, Diana, and Jane; and four surviving siblings - Vernon Goode, Julia Lee, Roy Goode and Wade Goode.
A visitation will be held at 11a.m. and memorial service to follow at 12 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Resurrection Church in Charlotte, NC. A private internment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Charlotte NC.
