Valerie A. Rink, affectionately known as "Hildy," passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, in High Point, Ohio, at the age of 64. Born on June 24, 1961, in Canton, New York, Val left an indelible mark on the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. A beloved wife, sister, and friend, her spirited personality and infectious laughter illuminated even the darkest moments.
Val’s career as a Wine Steward for Harper's Point Kroger was more than just a job; it was a passion that brought her immense joy. She traveled across the United States, including trips to Napa Valley, CA, scouting out exceptional wines to share with others. Her creativity shone through during the Wine Tasting nights at Kroger, where she carefully crafted delightful wine flights that would engage the senses and foster community connections.
Those who knew Val recognized her uplifting and welcoming nature; she had the rare gift of making everyone feel valued and special. Her competitive spirit would come to life during games of dominoes or cards, where victory was always hers. Val's love for Rock & Roll and country music filled her home with rhythm and joy, creating a lively atmosphere that reflected her zest for life. She cherished her adored pets, nurtured vibrant gardens that had an Elephant Ear anyone would envy, and filled her days with the things she loved most, including her unwavering support for the Buffalo Bills—go Bills!
Val was the pride of her family; she is survived by her loving husband, Charles Rink, her three brothers, Tom, Don, and Doug James, and her close friend, Tracey Hutchinson. She now joins her beloved parents, Mavis and Boyden James, in eternal peace.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to share in her life. Her laughter, love, and passion for life will resonate through the stories shared and the moments cherished. As friends and family gather to honor her life, we reflect on the joy she brought to us all, and the deep love she shared throughout her time with us.
