Valerie Elise Sheffield. affectionately known as "Val". was born on September 20,1964 to Linda Goolsby and Lester Sheffield in Trenton NJ.
Valerie received her formal education in the Trenton Public School System. and was a Graduate of T
Trenton Central High School in Trenton NJ. Valerie began her career in the Department of Corrections and held various occupations thereafter.
Valerie enjoyed watching games shows. sports. reality tv shows, playing her Bingo lottery scratch off tickets and her favorite musical group, was the Whispers. She found joy and comfort in spending time with her grandchildren and made sure to call everyone on their birthdays.
Valerie had a warm loving smile, a compassionate heart, and would give anything to anyone even if it was her last. Val was the life of the party; her favorite color was red, and she was known for her blonde hair and her gold lipstick that you know she would wear faithfully every day. Val's commitment and passion inspired all those around her.
Valerie's beautiful spirit departed on January 24, 2025, at the age of 60 peacefully at home. She was preceded in death by her father Lester Sheffield. grandmother Dorothy Travis, and grandfather Richard Garris.
Valerie was a beloved mother, daughter. grandmother, and leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness. and cherished memories to her Mother Linda Goolsby, three beautiful children Lyanna, Alex and Alexis Sheffield. Seven grandchildren: Nydashia Fowler. Bryan Carter Jr., Ma 'niyah Sheffield, Samir Robinson, Aqua/, Aniyah, and Saniyah Sheffield; one great-grand child: Nyla Joseph; Grandmother Ollie Sheffield; five sisters: Paula Sheffield, Nytasha Sheffield-Goode. Nykisha Sheffield, Tashika Sheffield-Phillips and Tashae Sheffield, a Special Aunt-Allen Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will 1pm Friday, February 7, 2025 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 12pm until the time of service. Interment will be private.
