Van Shields Obituary
January 31, 1938-Jan 12, 2026
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our Father and grandfather on January 12, 2026. Born to Eldred and Anna Orlean Shields on January 31, 1938, he was born and raised in Pine Canyon, a simple community he truly loved.
Van led his life dedicated to hard work even as a young boy working several jobs along the way. His career ended in 2000 when he retired from Mag Corp after 35 years of service. His work ethic and dependability were second to none and admired by all who knew him.
Van found great pleasure in camping, hunting, fishing and traveling as much as he could. He was a proud member of the Moose Lodge and the fellowship it created. Van married Lana Shields, together they had 4 children and later divorced. He then met and married Beverly Gillett and together they made their home and raised her 3 children in Pine Canyon.
Dad was preceded in death by his wife Bev, his parents, 3 siblings, 3 grandchildren, his daughters Kristie and Carolyn, and daughter-in-law Kayelynn.
He is survived by his sons Dal Shields, Corry (Penny) Shields, Larry Rigby, daughter Julie Shields, brother Arlen (Glenda) Shields, 14 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.
Free of Pain and back in the arms of your loving wife Bev. It's time to reunite with your family and many many friends that are waiting for you.
Thank you Dad for all of the life lessons, we will forever love and miss you...
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 1-3pm at the Pine Canyon Ward, 2032 Churchwood Dr, Tooele, Utah.
