Ervin Olsen

Ervin Conway Olsen, 82, of Tooele, Utah, passed away on January 20, 2026, in Tooele.

Ervin was born October 28, 1943, in Cache Valley, Utah, to Sylvan and Bertha Olsen. He earned a degree in English from Utah State University in 1967 and married, Linda Beveridge, on June 1, 1968. He later served his country with a tour in Vietnam.

Erv spent more than thirty years teaching English to students of the Tooele School District, at Tooele High School, Dugway, and Grantsville High School. He cared deeply about learning, words, and helping young people find their voice-often leaving a lasting impact long after students left his classroom.

Erv's faith was central to his life. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many callings, including as Bishop of the Tooele 11th Ward, and he approached every responsibility with humility and genuine care for others.

He also found joy in life's simple, good things: his dogs, visiting with people, traveling-especially to the beach and to Arizona-baseball games, reading, working in his yard, and being with family and friends. He was the kind of person who made time for conversation, noticed the people around him, and appreciated the everyday moments that mattered most.

Ervin is survived by his wife, Linda; his sons, Robert (Laura) and Michael (Carolyn); his grandchildren, Abbey, Tyler, and Lucas; and his brothers, Royce (Barbara) and Gerald. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvan and Bertha Olsen, and his sister, Doreen.

Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 12:00–3:00 PM, there will be a gathering for friends and family to celebrate the life Erv.

The gathering will be held at the Tooele 11th Ward Chapel, 180 South Coleman Street, Tooele, Utah.
