Vanessa Dawn Wharton

Vanessa Dawn Wharton, age 66, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away on October 9th, 2025. She was born on July 4th, 1959, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Frances A. Puckett - Nichols and Norman D. Nichols.

She spent her working days as a mother and homemaker.

In her free time, she enjoyed playing pool on her tablet, bowling, fishing, and spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, sisters and other family members. She served in many Officer Positions in the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary including Commander in 2008. She was a Sunday school teacher and an Awana's Leader.

Her family described her as a loving, kind, forgiving and a very giving woman. She was the funniest one in the room. She wholeheartedly loved and saw the best in everyone.

She was preceded in death by her father, Norman D. Nichols; her mother, Frances Annetta Nichols; and her sister, Valerie Denise Nichols.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Johnny Dean Wharton of Texarkana, TX; her daughters, Tracy & husband Shane Woodle of Genoa, AR; Christy & husband Chad Clements of Atlanta, TX; and Kerry McKnight of Texarkana, TX. Her grandchildren Collin Akins, Faith and husband Carson Felty, Shane Woodle, Garrett Akins, Aislinn Lantrip, Ashtonn Lantrip, Kaiden Lantrip, Aubrey Woodle, Landon Wade, Presten Wade, Estella Clements, Taylor Clements, Evan Clements, and Natalie McKnight. Her great grandchildren Brent, Carson, Zion, Lucas and Za'Liyah.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 2 PM at Chapelwood Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Rothwell officiating.
