Varnell "Snookie" Cobb, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Greenwood, Arkansas, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Affectionately known as "Snookie" or "Granny" by those closest to her, she was deeply cherished.
Varnell was born on November 30, 1939, in Nola, Arkansas, to Walter and Lillie Mae Martin. She was a devoted employee of Planters Peanuts, where she worked for 26 years. A lifelong farmer, Varnell found joy in simple pleasures like antiquing and gambling. She was a talented cook, best known for serving up her signature meal of beans, cornbread, and fried taters.
Her greatest joy came from being a mother and grandmother. She adored spending time with her children and grandchildren and was well known for her warm spirit and gift for storytelling. Vernell was a woman of Christian faith and lived a life centered around family and love.
She is survived by her beloved children, Kenny Hannick and his wife Dawn, and Terry Moore and his wife Tammie; and her grandchildren: Bryan, Tony, Kyle, Crystal, Taylor, Samantha, Shanda, Kirsty, Brandon, Amanda, and Tahra. Vernell also leaves behind 28 great-grandchildren: Tyler, Wyatt, Stevie Diana, Michael Ryan, Ryver, Raegan, Kyla, Abby, Joseph, Brooklynn, Chassidy, Sebastian, Austin, Emmalyn, Brynlee, Madison, Karson, MacKenzie, Kamden, Maddox, Mia, Jaxson, Silas, Tahra, Malarye, CJ, Haley, and Brennan.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Louis Hannick, Terry Moore, and Bill Cobb; her children, Diana Wilson and Michael "Mike" Hannick; and her siblings, Irene, Lorene, Inez, Patsy, Ewell, Junior, Albro, Dub, and S.J.
A Celebration of Life will be held in November 2025, with details to be announced closer to that time. Varnell will be deeply missed by a host of family and friends. Cremation is under the care of River Glenn Cremation and Funeral Services.
