Dr. Vasudevan Rajasenan, 85, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness.
Born in India, Dr. Rajasenan embarked on a remarkable journey that led him to the United States following his marriage. He completed his medical residency and cardiology fellowship in Philadelphia before establishing a distinguished 40-year private medical practice in Ellwood City. Throughout his tenure at Ellwood City Hospital, he served as Medical Staff President, Department of Medicine Chairman, and ICU/CCU Committee Chairman, leaving a lasting impact on the local medical community.
Dr. Rajasenan was a devoted husband to his wife, Vijaya, with whom he shared over 60 wonderful years of marriage. He was a proud and loving father to his three children, Terry Rajasenan, Deepa (Roger) Odom, and Kiran (Rosemarie) Rajasenan, and a cherished grandfather to his five grandchildren, Reece, Reilly, Ryan, Lauren, and Calli. And, he was also proud to have Aimee Brough as a beloved member of his family. His greatest joy was his family, and he took immense pride in his son following in his footsteps as a physician, continuing a legacy of three generations in medicine.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Rajasenan had a deep appreciation for nature, philanthropy, photography, and travel. His adventurous spirit took him to over 50 countries, including Antarctica, and he thoughtfully chronicled his journeys in a published book featuring his photography. Committed to giving back, he established a scholarship at Lincoln High School to support students pursuing careers in health sciences.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, and his brother-in-law. He is survived by his wife; his three children,Terry, Deepa and Kiran; his son-in-law, Roger; his daughter-in-law, Rosemarie; his five grandchildren; his honorary daughter, Aimee; and his two nieces.
Dr. Rajasenan's life was defined by compassion, curiosity, and a dedication to service. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family and community will be deeply missed but forever cherished by those who knew him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Rajasenan's dedicated caregivers, Charlotte, Milo, Karlos, and Brianna, as well as his compassionate hospice nurse, Trish. Their kindness, support, and unwavering care brought comfort and peace to him and his family during his final days.
