Vaughnnell Riddle Luckie, 97, passed away at Oaks Nursing Home on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 22, 2025, in Marshallville City Cemetery, 304 West Main Street in Marshallville, with Rev. Ed Sandefur officiating. Family will greet friends at the graveside after the service.
Born in Montezuma to the late Wiley and Exa Phipps Riddle, Mrs. Luckie attended secretarial school in Macon and retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base. She enjoyed working in her garden, often found planting and pruning, and was an active member of the Marshallville Garden Club and First Baptist Church of Marshallville. She also enjoyed shopping and antiquing to find that special treasure. Her family came first above everything and she volunteered to help with activities at Beechwood School in support of her children. She loved to cook for the entire family on Sundays and spending family time fishing at Lake Sinclair, even though she couldn't swim. She was a friend to everyone and would be one of the first to help others in any way she could.
Survivors include her children, John Mobley Luckie Jr. (Cheryl), Susan Youngblood (Bill), Jan McCord (Tim), and Vaughn Luckie; grandchildren, Trey Luckie (Dana), Edithlynn Wilder (Will), Ashlee Wood, Linsey Freeman (Ben), Molly Rabalais (Josh), Hank McCord, John McCord (Alexis), and Vaughn Luckie Jr.; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Mobley "Dock" Luckie, her parents, Wiley and Exa Riddle, a brother, Winford Riddle, and grandchildren, Mandy Luckie and Alex McCord.
Family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Oaks Nursing Home for the loving care given to Mrs. Luckie over the past fifteen years she spent there and also Crisp Regional Hospice for their excellent care and compassion. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Crisp Regional Hospice, 202 E 4th Ave., Cordele, GA 31015 in memory of Vaughnnell Luckie. Rooks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
