Velma Jean "Sally" Holderman, 92, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 1, 2025, at her home. She was born on August 13, 1932, in Wabash, Indiana, to Clarence Michael and Velma (Reahard) Schlemmer.
Sally worked at the Wabash County Treasurer's office, First National Bank in LaFontaine, Indiana, and she along with her husband, Lewis, owned the Lamplighter Shop in LaFontiane. She married Lewis Dean Holderman on November 18, 1949 in Muncie, Indiana; he died August 13, 2020. Sally enjoyed spending time restoring houses, collecting antiques, and going to car shows with Lewis to show their 1965 Ford Falcon Ranchero. She also was an excellent seamstress, candle maker, and baker, especially pies.
She is survived by three children; Michael (Deanne) Holderman of LaFontaine, Pamela (Doug) Simons and Lucinda Kay "Cindy" Holderman both of Wabash, six grandchildren; Tricia (Josh) Simons-Ward of Wabash, Joe (Julie) Holderman of Georgetown, Kentucky, Kate (Greg) Denham of Warsaw, Indiana, Matthew Holderman of Marion, Indiana, Claire (Chad) Clark of Pendleton, Indiana, and Mark Allen (Ashley Ferguson) Holderman, Jr. of Andrews, Indiana, 13 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, brother, Marvin (Becky) Schlemmer of Wabash, and sister, Mary (Jerry) Snyder of Wabash. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Mark Allen Holderman, Sr., grandson, Brian Simons, and 2 brothers.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Susan Shambaugh officiating. Burial will be in Stoney Point Cemetery, Clunette, Indiana. Friends may call 9:00 am - 11:00 am Thursday, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Shriners Hospitals for Children.
