Velma Davis Laur, 68, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at home.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
Velma was born on July 11, 1955, in Olathe, KS, the daughter of Raymond and Agnes (Sloan) Davis. She married Darrell Laur on July 26, 2003.
Velma was loving and supportive, especially to her family. She was her children's biggest cheerleader and always proud of them. Velma always found joy in spending time with family and her grandchildren. She was a caregiver to those around her and a homemaker in the most recent years. Velma also loved her dogs.
Velma is survived by her husband Darrell Laur of Effingham; children, Lisa Goacher (Curtis) of Easton, MO, and Jason Ligotino (Betsy) of San Diego, CA; daughter-in-law, Courtney Ligotino of Kettering, OH; brother, Paul Davis (Lynette) of Moses Lake, WA; grandchildren, Austin Goacher (Samantha), Jason Goacher, Logan (Goacher) Rose, Daniel Henson, Quinton Ligotino, Allyssa Ligotino, Kadin Ligotino, and Kyle Ligotino; great-grandchild, Mavon Goacher; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Robert Davis and Raymond Lloyd Davis Jr, and son, John Michael Ligotino.
