Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Veon R. Harvey, passed away on March 28, 2026 at University of Utah hospital due to complications from a fall. She was born April 13, 1934 in
Lapoint, Utah. She was #2 in a set of identical twins to Jacob Merrill Rasmussen and Vergie Ellen Blackburn and was welcomed by an older sister, Clythella. She considered her twin, Deon R Harvey as her best friend.
She married Jay D Harvey on June 6, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. On the same day, her sister Deon married Jay's brother Dennis in a double ceremony. They spent their honeymoon camping and traveling with Dennis and Deon.
Veon and Jay settled in their forever home in 1960 in Clearfield, raising a family of 7 children. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all of her life. She was called to serve as Relief Society president, Young Women President and Primary Counselor and many other auxiliary positions. She loved serving in compassionate service and as activity days leader and always volunteered to provide meals and education to anyone.
Some of her loves were attending BYU football games, sewing and quilting, playing cards, being outside gardening, canning, especially grape juice which is loved by her entire family. She was very supportive of her grandchildren and great grandchildren's school and community sports, plays and band activities. For many years as a family we camped and attended Rasmussen and Harvey family reunions. There was always so much laughter, love and lots of late nights talking into the wee hours. The reunions were not complete until the water fight was over.
She was employed by Ruby's draperies for many years and was able to design and sew all the draperies for her home. She was an accomplished and self taught seamstress, making the majority of her children's clothing including dresses for dances, wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses. She has made many wedding veils for so many family members. She gifted each of her grandchildren a handmade quilt on their 16th birthday. She sewed many, many baby blankets with matching burp cloths to gift to her family and friends. She loved being a homemaker and was not only our mother, but also our friend.
