Vera Glover Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bedford Funeral Home - Boston Globe on Sep. 3, 2024.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life." ~John 3:16
Vera Lee Glover, 89 of Bedford received her wings and went to her eternal resting place on Saturday, August 31, 2024. She was born in Bedford, VA on February 11, 1935 to the late Willie and Dorothy Leftwich. She was also preceded in death by her husband Arthur Glover; brothers Odell Leftwich and Randolph Leftwich; sisters Lillian Lee and Audrey English.
At an early age, Vera joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was a faithful lifelong member, who served for many years as the mother of the church and the head of the hospitality committee until her health declined.
Vera had various jobs over the years which were: Cunningham Store, Beautician to a lot of the ladies in the community, a cook at Bluefield Drive-In Kitchen in Bluefield WV, she cleaned houses, she worked at Halmode Dress Factory, Golden West Foods and Bedford County Nursing Home in the Dietary Department.
Vera was a giving person who loved to joke and laugh. However, she had no problem expressing what was on her mind. She was loved by everyone she met. Even during her illness, she spent time talking and laughing with people. Vera will be greatly missed, but she leaves her family and friends with many memories to cherish.
She is survived by her brother Willie (Mae) Leftwich of Rocky Mount, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
*In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
God Saw You
God saw you getting tired,
when a cure was not to be.
So, he wrapped his arms around you,
and whispered, "come to me."
You didn't deserve what you went through,
so he gave you rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.
And when I saw you sleeping,
so peaceful and free from pain.
I could not wish you back
to suffer that again.
