Vera Louise Hess

Flintstone, MD-Vera Louise Hess, 86, of Flintstone, MD, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at UPMC-Western Maryland.
Born June 10, 1936 in Cumberland, MD, Mrs. Hess was the daughter of the late Ellery Donald Smith and Ethel May (Shipley) Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Hess, Sr.; a son-in-law: Bobby Hartle; and her brothers: George, Donald, and Frank Smith.
A graduate of Flintstone High School, Louise retired from the Washington County Board of Education and was formerly employed at London Fog. Louise attended Flintstone United Methodist Church and was a member of the Flintstone Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed country line dancing, baking, cooking, and shopping, and most importantly, she loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She continued to give her Love to all until she passed.
Louise is survived by her sons: Richard A. Hess, Jr. and wife Shelvie; Robert Hess and wife Jeana; a daughter: Anna Hartle; her grandchildren: Brooke Hartle, Richard "Tater" Hess, and Olivia Hess; her brothers: Paul Smith and wife Linda; and Larry Smith and wife JoAnna; and a sister-in-law and special friend: Janet Smith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD (www.adamsfamilyfuneralhome.com) on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 2:00 P.M The family will receive friends one hour prior.
A committal service will be conducted at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 W. Washington Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740 on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 9:00 A.M.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Flintstone Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, P.O. Box 105, Flintstone, MD 21530.
