Ridgeley, WV – George "Joe" Taylor, Sr., 88, formerly of Ridgeley, WV, and having resided with his daughter and son-in-law for the past 4 years, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at their home.

Born February 26, 1937, in Elkins, WV, Joe was the son of the late Roy Taylor, Sr., and Annabelle (Joseph) Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his wife: Betty Jane Taylor in 2021; his son-in-law: William Montgomery; his grandson: Corey Taylor; and his brother: Roy "Skip" Taylor, Jr.

Joe graduated from Keyser High School and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He worked as a machinist at Celanese Fibers Corporation of America and Kelly Springfield Tire and Rubber Company and retired from Quarry Ridge Trucking Company. Joe was a member of the Davis Lodge #51 AF&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Cumberland Scottish Rite, Desert Legion, Shrine Transportation, Ali Ghan Shrine Club, Livingstone Church of the Brethren, Ridgeley American Legion Post #36 and the Ridgeley V.F.W. Post #6452. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved being outside. Joe's greatest joy was his children and grandchildren, attending every event and activity possible and passing his knowledge onto them.

Joe is survived by his daughter: Angela Mongomery-Gillum and husband, Barry; his son: George "JoJo" Taylor, Jr.; his grandchildren: Zayne Montgomery and wife, Cayle; Aliyah Montgomery and husband, Tony Weems; and Tyson Ross and Liv; his great-grandchildren: Cadence Taylor and her mother, Rachel Lee; Arabella Weems, Renlee Weems, Briar Weems, Tristain Weems, Bexleigh Montgomery, Andrew Montgomery, Nolan Montgomery, and Mia Montgomery; and his sister: Joyce Ellsworth; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 1:00 P.M., with Reverend Tom Woods officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park where the Davis Lodge #51 will conduct a graveside Masonic service.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
