Vera Eugene Lofland (née Peace), age 97, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, at her home Wills Point, Texas. A lifelong Texan, Vera was born on June 12, 1928, in Rockwall to Harry A. Peace and Martha Wilson.

A proud graduate of the Rockwall High School Class of 1946, Vera went on to dedicate many years of service to the United States Postal Service before retiring in 1979. Her strong work ethic and commitment to her community were hallmarks of her professional life.

On April 6, 1947, Vera married Thomas R. Lofland, with whom she shared a loving marriage until his passing in March of 2009. Together they built a life rooted in family and faith. In 1979, Vera and Thomas moved to Wills Point, Texas, where they continued to enjoy their retirement years surrounded by nature and neighbors.

Vera was a devoted mother to her daughters Toni Jeanne Kinser, Jana Jo Lofland, Linda Marie Slejko and husband Steven, and Merry Lisa Bailey and husband Bob. She took great joy in her role as grandmother to Jeanna, Eric, Robby, Nicole, and Joshua; great-grandmother to Callie, Colby, Jasmine, Tristan, Maya, and Nash; and great-great-grandmother to Charlie Sam.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas R. Lofland; her parents Harry A. Peace and Martha Peace; and her brothers Herman Lee Peace and James Franklin Peace.

Vera's life was enriched by simple pleasures-reading a good book, cooking for loved ones, playing games with family and friends, spending time outdoors or tending her garden. She also had a passion for travel that brought her joy throughout the years. Known for her humor, warmth, and wisdom, Vera brought light into every room she entered.

A woman of deep faith who worshipped in the Methodist tradition, Vera lived a life guided by kindness and compassion.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Graveside Service will be held on October 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.
