Vera Marie Sharp, age 87, of Marietta, Georgia passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. Interment will follow at Rolling Hills Memory Gardens in Acworth, Georgia.
Born and raised in Fannin County, Mrs. Sharp moved to Marietta in 1950 where she lived for most of her life. She retired as an Army Recruitment Secretary after 25 years of employment. She had been a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Marietta, and was currently a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning and cake decorating. She was a talented pianist and loved playing for residents where she lived. She will be remembered for how she made people laugh and caring for them. Her favorite color was purple and she loved butterflies. She was preceded in death by her sons, Jackie Thompson and Charles Thompson.
She loved to celebrate Christmas and make traditions that our family would carry on for lifetimes to come. She made a big impact on us all with her loving and kind heart. She was warm hearted, gentle, and loved all of us so much. She loved making her signature dish, biscuits with peanut butter syrup, for all of us children every Christmas morning without fail. She loved playing Christmas Bingo with us every year. She loved playing the piano. She began taking lessons when she was 8 years old and as soon as she learned how to play she began playing the piano at the church. She was gifted with this musical talent. I have video footage of my first birthday where she was holding me and letting me press keys on the piano. She shared so much joy in that moment and in many more moments of her life. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ so much and she told me to remember that God is always with us. She was a great example of a Christian woman to all of us and she was such a good mother to her children. She loved her family with all of her heart. Her dedication and faithfulness to our family will continue to make a lasting impact in all of our lives.
