Vera Earlene Tolbert

Vera Earlene Moody Tolbert passed away quietly and peacefully, the way she lived her life.

Earlene was proceeded in death by her husband, Jerry Tolbert, parents Robert & Nettie Moody, Grandson, Chad Card, brother Lamar Moody, sisters, Barbara Ridge, Sarah Taylor, and Karen Bowman, also a niece and several nephews.

Survivors include two sons, Jamie Card and Lenn (Rena) Card, grandchildren Tristin, Hannah, Kira & Seth.

Earlene had several great grandchildren as well.

She has one surviving brother, Robert (Shirley) Moody; and a sister, Elizabeth Moody Wyrick; brother-in-law, Rick Bowman; sister-in-law, Janet Moody, many nieces & nephews & a special friend, Bill Moses.

Earlene held many different jobs as she was a single parent for a long time. She worked as a consultant for an upholstery shop, sometimes jumping in to help upholster a piece of furniture when she had a vision that the others could not see. Earlene was a supervisor over the deli and bakery departments at Food City in Fort Oglethorpe before she became sick and could no longer work. Earlene loved to travel but always wanted to stay close to home. Her favorite place to go was Gatlinburg & the Smoky Mountains. She was a great seamstress and an amazing cook. Her family would tell you the one requirement for her at the Family Christmas gatherings was that she make her homemade fudge. Earlene used a recipe that could not be duplicated. She was also the only one in the family who could make chicken and dumplings like her mother. Earlene had many friends who loved her. She loved her church and was very active until her husband became ill, and she stayed home to care for him. Earlene will be missed by all the people whose lives she touched and that will be many.

Graveside Service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
