Verla Sappington Obituary
She is survived by her children Brenda Sappington (John) Tackett, Jeff (Brenda Kay) Sappington, and Teresa Sappington (Danny) Gillit; her grandchildren Eric (Lacey) Sappington, Marcus (Tiffany) Sappington, Anna Jo Sappington (Andrew) Holmes, Michael (Colleen Schaefer) Detmers, and Steven (Jessica) Detmers; 12 great grandchildren, many nieces, and nephews; and her sister Alice Zimmerman Anderson and brother-in-law Harold Peffer.
Verla Mae Zimmerman Sappington was born November 24, 1935. Verla graduated from Wy'east High School, Odell, OR in May 1954. Verla married her high school sweetheart Charles (Chuck) Evan Sappington on November 10, 1955. You never saw Verla without Chuck nearby. Verla worked for Atkinson Motor Company as a bookkeeper in The Dalles, OR when they were married. The Army moved Verla and Chuck to California in November of 1957. They purchased their house in Manteca October 1961 where they raised their family. In the early days of their marriage Verla was a stay-at-home mom. In 1969 Verla become self-employed selling Home Interiors & Gifts, which she sold until 1983. She retired when it started interfering with spending time and travel with Chuck. After retirement, Verla and Chuck got into genealogy and started looking for their ancestors; because of this they were always on the road going to this family reunion or that family reunion anywhere in the country.
Verla will be missed dearly by her entire family.
She will be buried in Manteca, California.

I will miss Verla. I talked to her shortly before she went home to be with our Lord. She said she couldn´t wait til He called her home. She was ready to go. I cant help but think of how happy Verla and Chuck are to be together again. I never thought about them going home so close together, but God answered their prayers. Praying God will comfort all their family and give them many sweet memories of two people who brought love and encouragement to many. God bless you, Sappington family.

To Charles and Verla SAPPINGTON family I was so so sorry to read about there passing. Thankful I got to know them. They was so sweet and kind. Loved them dearly. They will forever be missed.

Brenda, Jeff, and Teresa. I'm so sorry for Aunt Verla passing. I'm praying you all will find peace and comfort knowing she is with the Lord, her husband, and many loved one. I have many fond memories of your family while growing up. Love to you all.
