STERLING, CT - Verna (Gray) Cole, 79, beloved wife of Charles Raymond "Jim" Cole, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4th, 2026.

Born in Norwich, CT on December 10th, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Lillian (Frink) Gray.

Verna married her husband Charles "Jim" on June 22, 1968. Together they had two children, Charles Elliot and Betsy, and made their life on Ekonk Hill in Sterling. Verna enjoyed the many years she worked at Wood's Auto before retiring. She also enjoyed helping her daughter at Betsy's Stand. She was a congregant and the treasurer of Sterling Hill Baptist Church. She was also an active member of the Ekonk Community Grange where she was a staple in the kitchen at the Grange dinners. One thing for sure, she was always on the go keeping herself busy. Above all, family was always the most important part of Verna's life, she enjoyed and treasured the time spent with them.

In addition to her husband Verna leaves behind: her son Charlie Cole and wife Lara, her daughter Betsy Molodich and husband Michael; her grandchildren and spouses Katie & Michael Patton, Charles & Maggie Cole, Andrew & Faith Molodich; her great-grandchild Charles Francis "Frankie" Cole; and many other loving relatives.

Verna is predeceased by her brother Russell Gray and sister Carol (Gray) Mongeau.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
