Verna Christine Haith Daye was born October 1929 to Ernest Odell Haith, Sr. and Sara Jane McAdams Haith. Following a period of declining health, she peacefully passed into eternal life surrounded by her loving family on June 21, 2025.
Christine as she was known, attended Pleasant Grove Union School for nine years and later in life earned her GED. For a number of years, she worked tirelessly on the farm, sometimes wearing earrings and lipstick. She met the love of her life and married Arthur Daye. They began their life together farming and raising their 8 children: Algene, Doreen, Mary Linda, Kay Frances, Arthur, Jr., Johnny Ray, William Curtis and James Larnell.
She was a Godly woman. She went with her mother and father to Martin's Chapel Church and later Patillo Christian Church. She and Sis. Eunice Richmond later began having prayer meetings in her home every Saturday night. She kept the yearning to get more and more of Jesus. While attending Patillo she was involved in the Gospel Choir, Pastor's Aide, Missionaries and the Usher Board. If there was a department that needed help she did not mind offering her assistance. She loved the Lord with all of her heart. She was even a radio personality, as one of the hosts of the 1540 AM Gospel "For Such and Time as This" radio program.
She diligently worked with at Memorial Hospital (Cone Health Alamance Regional Medical Center) for many years. Following the hospital merger, she continued to work until retirement and following retirement, she volunteered with the ARMC Cancer Center.
She dearly loved people and no matter where she was she would speak and carry on a conversation. Most importantly she loved God, her children, grandchildren, family and everyone. She loved her family Sunday Dinners, come rain, sleet or snow dinner was going to be on the table. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves loving and lasting memories to her seven surviving children: Algene D. Johnson, Doreen Allen, Mary Linda Daye, Kay Frances D. Slade (William), Arthur Daye, Jr., William Curtis Daye and James Larnell Daye; two siblings: Shirley H. James (Reverend Walter) and Joe Louis Haith; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great grandchildren; a multitude of nieces and nephews, other relatives and dear friends lives she has touched.
In her passing she now joins in rest and assurance of Christ's coming: her dear husband Arthur, their son Johnny Ray Daye; her parents Ernest & Sara Haith; five grandchildren and five siblings: Monroe Haith, Ernest Odell Haith, Jr., Louise H. Daye, Betty Haith Daye and Anna Marie Haith Haith.
