Verna Metz Obituary
Verna Metz, age 93, of Elgin, IL, passed away on May 6, 2024. She was born August 10, 1930 in Elgin, IL to her loving parents, Shelby and Hazel (née Boehning) Emmert.
Verna graduated from Elgin High School, Class of 1958. She worked for Amerad in Elgin, IL. She married her husband, Bill Metz, in 1950, and they were married almost 53 years before his passing in 2003.
Verna was a very strong, driven woman, and she absolutely loved her many cats and dogs over the years. She enjoyed recreating 18th century women's clothing as part of her business with her daughter, the "Turkey Roost Traders." She also enjoyed attending living history events, shopping for antiques, and going on family vacations all across the United States and Great Britain.
Verna loved being a part of her community on the 800 block of Bellevue Avenue in Elgin. She especially enjoyed their many block parties, Neighbors' Nights Out, and the traditional Ringing the Bell on New Year's Eve.
Verna was preceded in death by her husband, William Metz; daughter, Leigh Faulker; and sister, Joan Wersing. She is survived by her son, Shawn Metz; grandson, Shelby Hauck; and great-grandchildren, Sadie, Kyler, Arrya, and Andi Hauck.

My condolences for your loss. I never knew Verna - but recently acquired one of her paintings of a beautiful geranium for my home. Reading her obituary, I'm sure I would have loved to know her, as we have a lot of things in common. I've printed this obit for the back of the painting so that future owners of the painting will have the opportunity to know her as well.

My favorite memory of verna was when we use to live in the bellevue block and she was always so nice, she would always walk her dog Bingo and before christmas they would go around the block and give everyone candy bags that I believe she would make, she was good friends with my mom once we left our house in bellevue we would still visit her during Christmas time and she would also take us something to our new house, we are very sad to hear about her passing once covid hit we kind of lost contact and i moved out of state and we´ve been trying to call her until i look her up on google and came across the news we are very sad qbout this news and we would like to share our condolences to her family. We would like to take her flowers wherever she is laid to rest..
