Vernon Jack Page, who was affectionately known as "Jack", was born November 8, 1930 in Summerland, MS, a community inside Taylorsville, MS to the late Francis "Fannie" Page and Wessley "Mack" Page.
Jack made his transition on June 26, 2024 in New Lenox, IL. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior was baptized at Pine Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Summerland.
Jack was married to Gloria Page for over 60 years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Page; his parents, Wessely "Mack" and Francis "Fannie" Page; two sons, Dexter Page and Edward "Erskine" Page; two sisters, Patsy "Pat" Page and Irene Smith; four brothers, Charlie "Flint" Page, Herman Page, Franklin "Frank" Page, and Billy "Bill" Eugene Page.
Jack worked on the family farm and studied at Prentiss Institute in Prentiss, MS. He was a soldier in the United States Army and a Korean War Veteran. He worked at Masonite Manufacturing in Laurel, MS for several years before migrating to Joliet, IL in the 60's for better opportunities. He then worked at Caterpillar as a machinist until he retired. Jack was also an advocate for equality and fair work. He also mentored young man from Mississippi who migrated North. Post retirement, he worked for First Student as a bus monitor.
Jack was known to wear a straw hat or his Korean War Veteran's hat. He was a great conversationalist and storyteller. His hobbies were playing the lottery and gardening. He and the family would plant greens, peppers, tomatoes, and much more. He enjoyed traveling back to Mississippi to visit family, attend family gatherings and reunions with great food.
Jack's memories will be cherished and not forgotten; he leaves to celebrate his homegoing: his children, Stanley Page of Downers Grove, IL; Stacy (Sheila) Page of Joliet, IL; Steve (Terica) Page of Lockport, IL; one brother-in-law, Herman Dent of Joliet, IL; three sisters-in-law, Claudette Dent of Joliet, IL; Loretta Dent (L.C. Taylor) of Calumet Park, IL; and Martha Ann "Mott" Page; nine grandchildren, Michael McGee, Tomika (Donald) Bacon, Sharla Page, Gianna Hill, Stanley Page Jr., Sarah Page, Justin Hill, Jeremy Page, and Aramis Page; six great-grandchildren, Destiny Wright, Diamond Wright, Damony Wright, Grace Page, Taylor Bacon,and Dakota Page; five great-great-grandchildren, Isabela Hill, Brendan Hill, Michael McGee Jr., ZaNiyah Ingram, and Kaysen Yarbrough; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends; and several very special cousins, Mary Catherine "Cat" Coyler, Maxine Flowers, and Bobby Jones.
