Vernon Wayne Sharp, 49, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away at his residence on Thursday, June 22, 2023. He was born on November 25, 1973 in Paris, Illinois.
Vernon was a construction worker by trade. He loved to build houses. His passion was to push people to make them laugh after getting under their skin. Vernon was known by the name "Shaggy", but the one name that he held dear was "The Bum" given to him by his father-in-law. Vernon had great compassion for people he loved and respected. He was a hard worker who could not be stopped even by cancer.
Vernon is survived by his mother, Karen Cooley, and stepfather, John Cooley. He is also survived by his wife of 26 years, Ilah Rose (Davis) Sharp; his son, Kyle Daniel Sharp and daughter-in-law Kayla (Wakefield) Sharp; his daughter, Dakota Cheyenne (Sharp) Cunningham and son-in-law James Cunningham. Vernon had one very special and loved granddaughter, Octavia Rose Cunningham. Vernon was a very loving husband and father. Vernon is also survived by a brother, Jason Sharp; sister, Deanna (Sharp) Wallace; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
Vernon was preceded in death by his father, Dell Sharp; sister, April Kathleen; grandparents, Vernon and Daisy Sharp, and William and Jeanne Wallace; his father-in- law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Sandra Davis.
