Mr. Vernon Gene Sprouse, Sr., 84, husband of Barbara Feemster Sprouse, of 3217 Jonesville - Lockhart Hwy., Union, passed away, Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Mr. Sprouse was born August 9, 1940, in Union, a son of the late J. G. Sprouse and Mamie "Tula" Farr Sprouse. He had retired from Lockhart Power where he had worked for 43 years. Mr. Sprouse was a veteran of the Army National Guard and a member of Mt. Joy Baptist Church and attended Lockhart First Baptist Church. He was a member for 62 years of the Mt. Joy Masonic Lodge.
Surviving in addition to his wife Barbara of 56 years, is a daughter, Susan Hines and her husband, Joey (Mr. Sprouse's favorite son-in-law) of Inman. Mr. Sprouse is also survived by special cousins, Debbie Gilchrist and Shirley Austin, and several nieces, nephews and a brother-in-law. He was predeceased by a son, Vernon Gene Sprouse, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM, Saturday, July 19, 2025, conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale, Rev. Dr. Steve Lemons and Rev. Terry Candler, at Mt. Joy Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Joy Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM prior to the services.
Active pallbearers will be John Bobo, Trenton Crocker, Bob Feemster, Tommy Feemster, Tyler Feemster and Trevor Feemster, Employees of Lockhart Power are asked to sit as a group during the service.
Memorials may be made to the Lockhart Baptist Church, 126 Armory Rd., Lockhart, SC 29364 or Mt. Joy Baptist Church, 657 Pea Ridge Hwy., Jonesville, SC 29353.
The family is at the home, 3217 Jonesville – Lockhart Hwy., Union, SC.
