Veronica Dixon Trietsch

Veronica L. Dixon Trietsch, affectionately known as "Vicki," passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at the age of 81 in Washington, DC. Born on February 2, 1944, in Burlington, North Carolina, Vicki was the beloved daughter of the late Evelyn Gattis and Jerry P. Dixon. Raised by her grandmother Anna Warren Gattis and surrounded by a strong Christian family filled with graceful fashion-forward Christian women. Vicki carried those values and that legacy with her every step of her life.
Married to the love of her life, the late Dennis "Denny" Trietsch, with whom Vicki shared almost 30 years of marriage. Vicki & Denny raised three children (Kristen, Nicholas & Lauren), in love, partnership and chaotic bliss. It brings us peace to know that they are now reunited.
Vicki had a deep love for learning and excellence. She earned her degree in Business Management from Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. She later dedicated 33 years of her professional life to serving in the federal government-where she impacted countless lives with her leadership, compassion, and integrity. Her work earned her national recognition, including the prestigious Presidential Rank Award, one of the highest honors for career federal employees. Even after retirement, she continued working as an office manager for the Foot & Ankle Specialists of the Mid-Atlantic for 11 more years, simply because she loved to stay active, organized, and around people. Earlier in her career, she even worked for NASA for several years-an experience she spoke of with pride and awe.
To know Vicki was to know joy, honesty, laughter, and love. She was a devoted mother to Kristen (Ryan), Nicholas, and Lauren. Her greatest pride and joy came from being "G-Ma" to her grandchildren-Kayla, Dana, Tamia, Ryan Jr., & Zoey-and was excited to welcome her great-granddaughter Myla into the family at the start of this year. But her love didn't stop with her immediate family. She played a major role in the lives of countless others as a bonus Mom, G-Ma, Aunt, and friend. If she loved you, she showed up in big ways-with loyalty, boldness, and a love that was uniquely hers.
Vicki was a woman full of life. She loved to entertain and was known for hosting unforgettable gatherings filled with music, food, laughter, and dancing. Her spirit lit up every room she entered. She was quick-witted, deeply outgoing, and had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued. Vicki never met a stranger.
Her home reflected her personality-warm, stylish, and full of charm. She had a special love for decorating with chickens, a sweet nod to her aunt's "house rules". She made sure her home honored that legacy-placing chicken decor with pride and humor all around.
Vicki was the epitome of glamour. A true fashionista, she never left the house without looking her best. Hair done, nails freshly painted, outfit flawless-she believed that beauty was not just about appearance but about presence, pride, and self-love. Her elegance wasn't just seen-it was felt.
She was also a woman of faith, a longtime member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Her belief in God carried her through the highs and lows of life and allowed her to inspire others with her strength and grace.
Her family was, without a doubt, the center of her universe. She loved deeply, gave generously, and lived a life full of purpose and personality. Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the many years of laughter, wisdom, dances, hugs, and memories she gave us. Her legacy lives on in all of us-especially in the strength, confidence, and style she so beautifully passed down.
She may no longer walk beside us, but her spirit will forever guide us.
