Obituary of Vicente Toledo
Vicente Toledo, 88, went to join the Lord, on February 25, 2025, with his family by his side at his home.
Vicente was born on December 20, 1936 in Camuy, Puerto Rico to Ricardo Toledo and Justa Rodriguez. He moved to New York in 1958 where he met the love of his life, Pura. They were married on January 24, 1959. They had three children--Wanda, Yvonne, and Ricardo. They lived in the Lower East Side.
Years later, Vicente and Pura moved their family to Jamaica, Queens. After working at Baby Togs, Inc. for over 40 years, Vicente decided it was time to retire. Upon retirement, Vicente and Pura built their house in Puerto Rico. They spent the snowy winters in New York and hot, humid summers in Puerto Rico. Why? Because they always wanted to share the holidays with their children and grandchildren.
Vicente was a very active person. In his younger years, he trained with the second runner-up for the title of Mr. North America weight lifter, Yiye Avila. He loved to play softball, handball, racquet ball, "boxes," ping pong, billiards, and enjoyed running. In addition, had a penchant for gardening, his lawn being the envy of the block. Vicente had an incredible work ethic as he strove to make a better life for his family. His kindness, charm, devotion and strength are an inspiration to all who knew him.
Vicente is survived by his two daughters and their spouses, Wanda Toledo and Mario Saldana, Yvonne and Rafael Otero; son, Ricardo Toledo; granddaughter, Janette Otero; two grandsons and their spouses, Rafael and Kathryn Otero, Vicente and Bianca Toledo; five great grandchildren, Mason Shea Otero, Savannah Grace Otero, Benjamin Thomas Otero, Ricardo Vicente Toledo, and Nicolas Antonio Toledo; sister Carmen Toledo; and brother, Teodoro Toledo.
