Vicki Reyna, age 66, of Higginsville, Missouri, died Thursday, May 27, 2010, at her home. She was born January 4, 1944 in Goldfield, Iowa, the daughter of the late Hans Sorensen and the late Mildred (Halgrim) Sorensen. She married Richard Reyna November 27, 1969 and moved to Higginsville that year. Vicki worked for many years in her home for Ace Radio, as well as babysat while her children were small. She was one of the first employees of the Higginsville Walmart and most recently worked as assistant cook at the Higginsville Senior Center. Growing up on a farm in rural Iowa, Vicki many times worked alongside her father with the Belgian draft horses that they raised. Her father also showed some of his horses and is honored in the Iowa State Fair Hall of Fame. Vicki loved cooking and gardening. She was an active member of the Higginsville American Legion Auxiliary Post 223, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Higginsville. Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, twin sons, Hans & Patrick Reyna; two brothers, Kent & Don Sorensen; and one sister, Karen Sorensen. She is survived by her husband: Richard Reyna of the home; two Daughters: Tara Reyna of Higginsville; & Anna & Husband Adam Dillon of Waverly, Missouri; one Son: Brandon DeWitt of Davenport, Florida; four Grandchildren: Kalyn, Brittany, Jacob, & Amber Dillon; two Sisters: Dee & Husband Carl Halverson of Eagle Grove, Iowa; Holly & Husband Brent Upchurch of Ankeny, Iowa; one Brother: Earl & Wife Joy Sorensen of Goldfield, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 29, 2010 beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Higginsville. A Memorial Service is planned for Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Goldfield, Iowa. The Family suggests Memorials to Lafayette County Cancer Coalition or Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are being handled by Hoefer Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Main, Higginsville.
