Vickie Gundersen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Suchon Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Plymouth on Jul. 28, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Vickie Lou Gundersen (Kapellen), age 64, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, in her hometown of Plymouth, Wisconsin - the very place where her life began July 26th, 1961. Her journey came full circle on her birthday, a poignant reminder of the vibrant life she lived and the deep roots she maintained in the community she loved.

A proud graduate of Plymouth High School, Class of 1979, Vickie carried her strong work ethic and spirited personality into every chapter of her professional life. She began her career at Aero Metric Inc., where she developed a passion for aerial photography and took great joy in understanding its intricate details. Her curiosity and drive led her next to Tricor Insurance, where she explored the world of insurance with characteristic enthusiasm.

Vickie's love for people and natural charisma made her a beloved presence at 52 Stafford, where she served countless friends and patrons over the years. Her warm smile and social nature made every guest feel welcome. Later, at Fasse Paint, Vickie found a perfect blend of creativity and connection - helping contractors and homeowners alike find just the right color with both artistic flair and heartfelt care.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Vickie's greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved most. She was deeply devoted to her family and especially cherished being a grandmother. Her grandsons - Josiah Gundersen (Jasmin Gomez), Beckett & Reece Richardson - were the light of her life. She never missed an opportunity to be present for them, cheering them on with pride and affection. The arrival of her great-granddaughter Elizabeth Marie Gundersen brought even more joy to her heart.

Vickie is lovingly remembered by her children: Jason Gundersen and Samantha (Justin) Richardson; as well as by her former husband David Gundersen. She also leaves behind her sisters Val (Mark) Krueger and Gini (Randy) Rortvedt; step-siblings Lisa DeSmidt, Rich DeSmidt, and Lori DeSmidt; nieces and nephew Joe Krueger, Alex (Alyssa) Krueger, and Stephanie Rortvedt.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dennis Kapellen and Sandy Bishop; as well as by her stepmother Andrea Kapellen.

Vickie had a heart of gold - always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word. Her genuine empathy touched everyone who crossed her path. Known for a contagious laugh that could brighten any room and a sense of humor that brought smiles to many faces, Vickie left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Her passions were many: cheering on the Packers during game days, painting with creativity and joy, traveling to new places with wonder in her eyes - but above all else, it was time spent with family and friends that meant the most to her.

A memorial service will take place at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Visitation will take place from 3:00 PM until the time of service. Pastor Dale Miller will officiate. Following the service, a celebration will be held at Amore in Plymouth. Friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a woman whose warmth radiated through every aspect of her life.

Vickie Lou Gundersen will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.

Flowers are welcome. In lieu of flowers consider a donation to the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice home in her name.
