Victor Chuakay Go, 82, of Bloomfield, New Jersey, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025 surrounded by his beloved family.
Victor's legacy lives on with his wife MariaVictoria (Vicky/Evic) Celis Go; his son Emmanuel Go; his daughter Genie Go, her husband Scott Sewing, and their children/his granddaughters Alexandra Go-Miranda and Emery Go-Sewing; his sisters Leonila Go and Betty Go; his brother Andres Go and his wife Violeta Go; his niece Bernadette Go Kinyon, her husband Kevin Kinyon, and their daughters Beatrice Tan and Katie Kinyon; his niece Kathleen Go Matthews and her husband Ondra Matthews; his niece Kimberly Go; his nephew Louie Andrew Go; and his niece Arlene Grace Go Co, her husband Michael Co, and their children Mikaela Co and Maverick Co. Victor was predeceased by his father Luis Go, his mother Dominga Chuakay Go, and his niece Sheila Go.
Born on July 30, 1943 in Manila, Philippines, Victor graduated from Chang Kai Sek High School/College in 1961 and went on to graduate magna cum laude from the University of Santo Tomas with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1966. He began his career with a year working for Robina Farms, followed by a move to United Laboratories where many of his colleagues became lifelong friends. After meeting Vicky at United Laboratories, they moved to the United States in 1970, married in 1971, and resided in Garfield, New Jersey until moving to their home in Bloomfield in 1973.
In addition to continuing his education and earning a Master of Science in Chemistry from Rutgers University in 1982, Victor's career spanned major pharmaceutical companies including Hoffmann-La Roche (Vitamins & Fine Chemicals, 1972-1987), Takeda Pharmaceuticals (Vitamins & Foods, 1987-2000), BASF Corporation (Human Nutrition, 2001-2006), and Mingtai Chemical LLC (2006-2025). Despite promising to take a step back in 2019, ever the dedicated employee, Victor continued with his role and responsibilities as Chief Operating Officer at Mingtai until his passing. His expertise was admired by colleagues, but it was his jovial spirit that made him a friend with whom many would remain in touch throughout the years.
Victor's career afforded him numerous opportunities to travel the world, with his business and personal adventures taking him to the Far East – including Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, and China where he fulfilled his dream of walking sections of the Great Wall – to Europe, the Middle East, and South and Central Americas, along with cherished annual family vacations to Hilton Head, South Carolina; Boston, Massachusetts; Bar Harbor, Maine; and Orlando, Florida.
When not busy working or traveling, Victor enjoyed the tranquility of lovingly maintaining his home garden, the serenity of watching birds, and most of all, being a doting "Wowo" to his beloved granddaughters and to his entire family.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to organizations that were dear to Victor, including the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the Garden Club of New Jersey, New Jersey Audubon, and St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church.
The family also wishes to thank the members of the ER and ICU of Overlook Medical Center of Summit, New Jersey; Atlantic Health Medic 1 of Mountainside, New Jersey; and the Mountainside, New Jersey Police whose valiant efforts kept Victor with us in those final hours of his life. Please consider contributing to these organizations in memory of Victor.
A visitation will be held at Halpin-Bitecola Brookdale Funeral Home, 1284 Broad Street in Bloomfield, New Jersey on Wednesday, October 29, from 5 PM to 9 PM.
