On Monday, May 19th, 2025, we lost our beloved Victor Lawrence Marshall, fondly known as "Poppa," "Coach Vic," and "Sergeant Marshall." He was born on July 31, 1961, in Los Angeles, California, and he made his home in Clinton, Utah. Victor was a quiet, humble man. He was known for his unwavering support and loyalty.
Victor left an imprint in many ways and on many lives. He bravely served his country in the U.S. Air Force Reserves 419th Fighter Wing Squadron and in the 75th Civil Engineering Squadron at Hill Air Force Base. While serving his country, he played volleyball for the Air Force and in local leagues. After retirement, he invested years coaching youth volleyball. As Coach Vic, he instructed hundreds of young athletes at Fremont High School and Layton Christian Academy, and on several competitive volleyball teams. He was not just a coach; he was a mentor and a friend who helped players become the best version of themselves both on and off the court. He treated each one of them as his own.
Victor touched countless lives. At the heart of his world was his family, the source of his greatest joy and pride. Victor is survived by his cherished wife, Rochelle, and their beloved daughters, Andrea, Vanesa, and Felicia; four brothers, Carlton Jr., Theodore, Timothy, and Christopher; his beloved in-laws, Mike and Kathie Linsley; an uncle, Willie Andrew Sturgis; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. His love for them all was felt in every interaction. He was the epitome of the quote, "The love of a family is life's greatest blessing." His parents, Carlton Sr. and Ola Marshall, preceded him in death; their love and guidance shaped the wonderful man Victor became.
We will celebrate Victor's life on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 11:00 am at Myers Mortuary at 845 Washington Boulevard, Ogden, Utah. The day will be filled with stories, tears, and laughter, a testament to the vibrant life Victor lived. The family will greet visitors at the mortuary during viewings held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and Monday, June 2, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Victor will be interred at Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park at 17111 South 1700 West, Bluffdale, Utah.
Victor's service will be live streamed, to watch scroll below the obituary to the link below the pine trees.
