Funeral services for Victor Molinar, Jr., age 82 of Seminole, Texas, will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at M.S. Doss Chapel in Seminole. Pastor Jerry Ramirez will officiate, with Pastor Charlie Johnson assisting. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.

Vic Molinar was born in Alpine, Texas on March 23, 1943, one of 12 children to Maria (Ortega) and Victoriano Molinar, Sr. and one of five children to Mary Lou (Ramos) and Victoriano Molinar, Sr. He married Lupe Rodriguez in Alpine on July 29, 1961 and they moved to Seminole. He worked in maintenance for the Seminole Public Schools. Vic was a member of the Methodist Church.

Vic was an extraordinary musician. He was the finest steel guitar player, not only in West Texas, but around the world. He was able to share his talent in Switzerland and other countries, playing for celebrities. He has played with people and bands such as Craig Carter and Spur of the Moment band, Black Gold, The Boyer Twins, Pecos Rodeo, Chuck Peterson, Zach Casey, Mike Nelson, Greg Shoults, Jerry Dugan, Kipp Wilks Band, and many more.

Most importantly, Vic Molinar was a man of faith who was always present for his family. He was an extremely hard worker and a man of his word. He attended Kids Junction and supported his daughter in all achievements; family time was essential. Vic cherished his wife Lupe; she preceded him in death in 2020. He was an excellent cook; his barbecue and pancakes were amazing, and he was known for his non-yielding weekly menu. He never missed his coffee time, both in the morning and again at 3 pm. He adored his grandchildren who referred to him as Grumpy, and he loved his dogs who he called his "boys." He also enjoyed sports, especially Atlanta Braves baseball.

Victor Molinar passed away early Sunday, August 24, 2025 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by one son. He is survived by one daughter, Mary Lynn Acosta and husband Richard of Odessa, Texas; six brothers, Tony Ramos and wife Linda of Odessa, Sam Zuniga and wife Lois of Norman, Oklahoma, George Ramirez and wife Gracie and Jerry Ramirez and wife Lisa, both of Lubbock, and Elpido Molinar and Raul Molinar and wife Marcela, both of Alpine; ten sisters, Sylvia Ramos, Cora Chavez and husband Joe, and Lisa Molinar, all of Alpine, Nordela Almager of Seagraves, Texas, Sylvia Castillo and husband James of Lubbock, Diana Alvarado and husband Hector of Seminole, Wanda Taylor of Frisco, Texas, Irene Holbert and husband Blair of Midlothian, Texas, Bertha Harmon and husband Sterling of Waco, Texas, and Rosa Mitchell and husband Steve of Midland, Texas; three grandchildren, Robert Boutwell and wife Amanda of Odessa, Texas, Victoria Bainbridge and husband Luke of Weatherford, Texas, and Nicholas Acosta of Amarillo, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Tori Alvarez, Joshua Alvarez, and Marty Alvarez.

I have been good friends with Vic´s daughter Lynn for about 25 years. She has shared many stories of him, always with humor and respect. His amazing skill with the steel guitar made him famous, but his love for family is what he will be remembered for. Rest in peace, Victor Molinar. You will be missed greatly.
