Victoria Pacheco Escobedo from San Antonio, Texas was graciously carried away in the arms of
Jesus on January 3, 2023, at the age of 98 years. She was greeted by her beloved husband,
Cleto Escobedo Sr., parents, Jesus and Felipa Pacheco, sister Narcissa Pacheco, brothers,
Joe, Jesse, Amos and Felix Pacheco.
Until the Lord reunites them, she leaves behind three sons, Cleto Escobedo Jr (Sylvia),
Bernardino Escobedo (Josephine), and Gilbert Escobedo (Cynthia); grandchildren, Cleto
Escobedo III (Lori), Gilbert Escobedo II (Yvonne), Evelyn Rose Juarez (Rick), Bernard Joseph
Escobedo, Ernest Escobedo (Jackie), April Nicole Gomez (Frank), Victoria Escobedo, Monique
Aguilar; numerous great grandchildren; sister, Conchita Gaona, brother, Manual Pacheco, as
well as numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
Better known as "Toya," or "Toyita," by her family members, she was born on January 7, 1924 in
the small town of Elmendorf, Texas, where she was raised, met, fell in love, and married the
love of her life, Cleto Escobedo Sr. (Pop). Together, they raised a family of three sons. "Mom,"
as her sons warmly referred to her, also worked for numerous years at A.I. Root Candle
Company as a candle maker and then as a receptionist and secretary to help "Pop" with the
growing family's expenses.
She was the best Mom to a household of three growing boys, of whom they loved in return.
Mom was a very caring person who was always there to lend a helping hand in times of need.
She was the best caregiver for her very own mother, Felipa Pacheco, and also for her mother in
law, Julia Escobedo, especially when they succumbed to their illnesses in their senior years.
One of Mom's strengths and talents was having a "sharp mind". Oftentimes, many people
would call on her to ask for names and birthdates; events that she would rightfully remember.
She was also known for always showing up with her famous "Fruit Cocktail Cake" at visits or
special occasions. Visiting Mom at home was always a pleasure because the invitation to her
kitchen was the best. She was always ready to serve coffee with cookies or some kind of
dessert. Her kitchen was the warmest, coziest place to be as we shared delightful
conversations! Reflecting back in her days of youth in Elmendorf, it surely was one of her
favorite topics. Her face would light up as she shared her stories! She was very proud of having
sung in Elmendorf's church choir. Later in life, she was known to love harmonizing with her
brothers and sister at family gatherings. Mom was a lifelong member of Elmendorf's St. Anthony
Catholic Church.
Mom, Toya, Toyita or Victoria, as we will respectfully remember her, will be dearly missed by her
family and by all who loved her for her very special loving ways. The sorrow we share as a
family is enormous, but our love of her life is even greater!
We send a heartfelt "Thank You" to Jorge Luna, Social Worker with Trinity Hospice for his kind
and caring visits. We will also be forever grateful to Stephanie Esqueda, Admission Coordinator
from the San Antonio Residence & Rehabilitation Nursing Center for her immeasurable
compassion as she always promptly responded and followed up to resolve our Mom's never
ending needs.

Ben & Josephine Escobedo

January 7, 2023

Dearest Mom,
We thank God graciously for the gift of your life which was bestowed upon our families. You were the greatest mother who showered all of us with loving kindness. Gone are our wonderful moments with you on this earth, but resting in our hearts are the most memorable experiences of you in spirit! Mom, it felt wonderful to always feel your appreciation for everything you asked for. It was such a great honor to have cared for you daily at home and as your advocates at the nursing home. You have left a big void in our lives Mom, but with Gods grace, we will carry on. May our heavenly Father watch over all of the family you leave behind.

We love you Mom, may you forever rest in peace! You are now our Angel in heaven, so sing with the angels!

Your children, Ben and Josephine
