Ms. Victoria "Vickie" Whisnante Ozburn, a beacon of love and resilience, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on May 28, 1942, Vickie was the cherished daughter of the late Lewis and Lillian Whisnante. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother and sister-in-law, Reuben and Susan Whisnante.
Vickie will be lovingly remembered by her devoted children, Cindy Ozburn Ellison, Amanda Crowe and her husband Keith, Andy Ozburn and his wife Michelle, and Randy Ozburn and his wife Amy. Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, 2nd LT Jacqueline Victoria Ellison, Lauren Noel Ellison, Nina West and her husband Daniel, Brandon Maxey and his wife Brittany, Samantha Maxey, Lauren Dugger and her husband Tyler, Micheal Crowe, Abby Williams and her husband Bryce, Allyson Ozburn, Andrew Ozburn, Jr., Sydney Ozburn and her wife Brooke, and Meg Bohanan and her wife Candice. Her great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life, include Jameson, Lilliana, Amelia and Benjamin West, Weyman Stephens, Elliott and Addie Mae Maxey, Ryker Dugger, Kennedy and McKinley Williams, and Teagan Ozburn, and her brother who will miss her dearly, Alvin Whisnante.
Vickie's nurturing spirit extended to her niece Kye Haymore and her husband Chris, nephew Kasey Whisnante and his wife Keeli, great-nephew Warth Haymore, and great-nieces Kaitlyn and Kathryn Whisnante. She also held a special place in her heart for her numerous Ozburn nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members, who will cherish her memory.
A dedicated seamstress, Vickie's craftsmanship was a tangible expression of her love and care. Her culinary skills were unparalleled, as she knew everyone's favorite dish and delighted in bringing comfort through her cooking. Her resilience as a mother was the foundation of her family, and her servant's heart led her to always put others first. Vickie's love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was boundless, and she reveled in their achievements and happiness, always encouraging and supporting them.
Vickie's life was one of selflessness, never wanting to inconvenience anyone and always conscious of others' feelings. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, and she was a faithful member of Centennial Baptist Church. She also cherished her time at Pine Grove Community Church, where she was an active church attendee and participant in the women's continual group-a tradition spanning generations in her family.
Vickie's warmth and kindness touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit will continue to inspire those she leaves behind, as they strive to embody the love and selflessness she exemplified throughout her life.
Funeral Services for Vickie will be at 3:00PM on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Centennial Baptist Church with Reverend Terry Richardson, Reverend Wilburn Hill, and Reverend Chris Haymore officiating. Interment will be at Shoal Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends for visitation from 2:00PM until 3:00PM at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Centennial Baptist church in Vickie's name at https://www.centennialbaptist.org/donate. The donations will be used to further their growth of their Food Pantry Outreach Program.
