Larry Young Ozburn

Larry Young Ozburn, of Tyrone, GA, passed away on June 9, 2024, at the age of 88. He was born on January 4, 1936, in Atlanta, GA.
Larry graduated from Bass High School in Atlanta, GA, and entered the Air Force at the age of 17. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. While in the Air Force, Larry obtained a degree in
Computer Science from Troy State University. He retired from the Air Force after 26 years of service with the grade of Chief Master Sergeant. After retirement from the Air Force, he worked for Georgia Power in the IT department for 12 years and retired at the age of 55. During his early retirement years, he volunteered with Project Open Hand and Meals on Wheels. Eventually he needed more to fill his time and worked for several years at Dobbins Air Force Base in Marietta, GA at the Base Exchange. After his wife, Christine, retired, he and Christine moved to Tyrone to live a leisurely life next door to his son, Tim, and his family. In Tyrone, Larry was active at St. Matthew Catholic Church with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, where he provided assistance to people in need.
Larry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Christine Whittaker Ozburn, his daughter Denise Robinson (John), his son Timothy Ozburn (Katherine), and his grandchildren Willow Ozburn, Sara Ozburn, Toby Ozburn, Riley Robinson, and Andrew Robinson. He was preceded in death by his father Marion Ozburn, his mother Jessie Skipper, his sister Jerry Stewart, and his brother Don Ozburn.
The funeral mass to honor Larry's life will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 4 pm at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Tyrone. Burial will occur at a later date at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
