Vida "Carol" (Tierney) Weigel
December 21, 1939 - March 1, 2025
Memorial visitation will be Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 3-6 pm at the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc. 27 Smith Avenue Kingston. Carol crossed over at WMC ER on March 1st comforted by her children, Barbara, Rick and Gary. She and her twin sister, Bobby were born on 12/21/1939 in the Bronx to Virginia and Richard Lotus. Virginia and Richard met at an Estonian/Lativan dance. They were married in 1936.
She is predeceased by grandparents Lillian and John Pallo, parents Virginia and Richard Lotus, twin sister Barbara "Bobby" Angiulo, brother-in-law Michael Angiulo, and her best friend, love of her life and fishing buddy Poppy Bob Keller.
Carol was a registered nurse at Kingston Hospital for 45 years. She was an exemplary nurse taking every continuing education class that was offered. She loved her career choice and worked on Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Cardiology and the Neurology/ Stroke Unit. She once received a perfume called Heaven Scent from a grateful family after she resuscitated a patient in ICU. Carol was strong and outspoken when it came to patient care and the treatment of her "staff", from the maintenance dept., to the floor clerk, to her nurses. She was a floor nurse, floor manager and unit manager. Her passion was always patient care.
As a young women she spent her summers at the family bungalow on Sound Beach, Long Island. She was full of adventure, yes, she made a raccoon hat and loved all sports, including swimming out to rocks, especially "Blackie". In her leisure time she enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading and going to the casino. A forever Yankee fan she also loved traveling, especially to France.
She is survived by her children: Barbara Tierney Ryan (Bill, Jr.), Rick Tierney (Kristin), Gary Tierney (Melissa) all of Kingston; her sister, Donna Lotus, Kingston. Nieces and nephews: Erik Angiulo (Donna), Mark Angiulo (Michelle), Tara Savage (David) and great nephews, all of Long Island.
Grandma Carol/Nanny to Michael Coddinton(Kyla), Kaylin and Kylie Tierney, Claire Hannah Ryan, Darian North and great grandchildren, all of Kingston
