Vincent A. Cavallo, of Woburn, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, September 2, 2024. He was 88. "Vinnie", as he was affectionately known to family and friends, was the beloved husband for 25 years of Marcia Spraker - Cavallo of Woburn and the late Carole (Plentzas) Cavallo who passed in 1994. Born in Somerville he was the son of the late Ruggiero and Mary (DePasquale) Cavallo.
Raised in Somerville, Vinnie attended the St. Ann Grammar School and went on to graduate from Malden Catholic Xaverian Bros. High School. Vinnie then attended Northeastern University where he earned his BA Degree in an accelerated 2 years. Vincent was also enrolled as a private student at the New England Conservatory of Music from 1953 to 1957. A talented musician he played the clarinet and saxophone with the New England Conservatory Orchestra, as well as playing professionally with the Napoli and Roma Bands in the North End of Boston and various bands over the years. He played at the Storyville Nightclub, Moseley's on the Charles, Totem Pole Ballroom with the Rick Tinnery Band, to name a few.
As a very spiritual person with a strong Catholic faith, Vinnie entered the St. John Seminary in Boston and graduated in 1961 with his Masters of Divinity, Theology, and Psychology. He was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest and served as a Boston Diocesan Priest at St. Mary in Dedham, St. Rita in Haverhill, St. Anthony in Brighton and St. Thomas More in Braintree.
Vinnie eventually left the priesthood and began working for the IRS, followed by opening a very successful American Express Financial Advisors Office in Chelmsford that he operated for many years. A lifelong learner, at age 75 he learned the Italian language and became an interpreter on trips to Italy. He remained a Member of Corpus, The National Association for an Inclusive Priesthood. Vinnie was also an avid skier and skied throughout New England, as well as Austria and the Italian Alps. He loved to swim and spend time at his summer home in Falmouth where he enjoyed the Falmouth beaches, particularly Old Silver Beach.
Vinnie will fondly be remembered for his compassionate and gentle way, his self-confidence and strength in his ability to learn new things and tackle any challenge. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his beloved wife Marcia, Vinnie is survived by his stepchildren, Christopher Spraker and his wife Melissa of Lynn, and Ryan Spraker of Los Angelis, CA. He was the cherished brother of Frances Cavallo of Somerville, Roger Cavallo of Utica, NY, and Ann Cavallo - Hartnett of Somerville. He was a loving uncle to Lydia, Ruggiero II, Carlo, Corinna and Cristiana. Loving great uncle of Zachary, Xaviar, Lucia, Roger II, Raffaelo, and Emilio.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated, Monday, September 9th, at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the Mass in St. Anthony Church, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Vinnie's memory to the Jewish Family & Children`s Service, c/o Development Office, 1430 Main St., Waltham, MA 02451

We will always remember Vinnie during the holiday season especially Christmas Eve. Back in the day where he would film everyone with huge bright lights and conduct Christmas eve mass and playing music with all the younger generations of the family who played instruments, it was so special and wonderful times. Vin will be missed and out thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. Love always Rob and Susan

Sending our love from Vinnie“s beloved Italy! I remember Vinnie learning the Italian language by reading the Italian newspapers. Aunty Chicky was so proud of him! I know she was there in Heaven waiting to greet him with a hug and kiss!
We love you Marcia!

I first met Vinnie when he would play for the Rainbows Annual Dinner and Gathering. His music added such depth to the wonderful, meaningful celebration. Vinnie had a light that came from within and shone on everyone he came in touch with.
He was a gentle, loving, compassionate man. All who knew him were enriched by his life. Thank you Vinnie for all you did and all you were. love, Maureen and Phil Walsh
