Vincent ("Vinny") D'Adamo, Jr., 95, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026, after a long life full of love, laughter and happiness.
He was the Husband of the late Bertha (Wilkicki) D'Adamo.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Santina (Falso) D'Adamo. He grew up living above his father's pharmacy on Charles Street with his brother, the late Robert D'Adamo, Sr. and his sister, the late Carmela (D'Adamo) Ciavatta.
After graduating president of his class at Hope High School and playing as quarterback on the Hope High football team, he went on to graduate from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Rhode Island in 1953. For 23 years, Vinny followed in his father's footsteps, owning and operating the New Marieville Pharmacy on the corner of Mineral Spring Avenue and Charles Street in North Providence, where he prided himself on helping people no matter what – whether it be opening the pharmacy in the middle of the night to get medicine for a sick child, or covering the cost of the medicine when someone could not afford it. Vinny also served in Germany as part of the U. S. Army Medical Corps during the Korean War.
Vinny married the love of his life Bertha, after meeting in high school. They raised their two daughters, Julie and Sandra in their dream house on Plymouth Road in North Providence. He was so proud of the life they built together.
Vinny was a friend to everyone he met. He loved to help people and was so grateful for his family – readily listing their accomplishments to anyone who would listen
He worked until he was 89, serving in his later years as a doorkeeper for the Rhode Island Senate. He loved participating in community events – playing his accordion at the Senate's annual St. Joseph's Day celebration, serving as the Grand Marshall of the North Providence Memorial Day parade, and taking on the role of Columbus in the Federal Hill Columbus Day parade.
He is survived by his daughters: Julie Persechino and husband Kenneth, of North Providence, Sandra Bucci, of West Warwick, his grandchildren: Angelina Landi and her husband David Landi, Jr., Santina Silva and her husband Shawn Silva, Frank Bucci. Jr., and his great grandchildren: David, Vincent and Angelo Landi. He is also survived by his companion, Geraldine Kashmanian.
Vinny had a deep faith in God. A longtime parishioner of St. Anthony's Church. He was warm, loving, kind, generous, funny, genuine and humble. He is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
