Vincent Patrick "Jake" Lamb

Vincent Patrick "Jake" Lamb passed into eternal life at the age of 93 on August 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born to Cecilia and Joseph Lamb on July 15, 1932, on his family's farm in Manalapan, New Jersey, Jake was the youngest of nine children and the last surviving sibling to Rose, Cecilia, John, Joseph, William, Leo, Mary and Stephen.

Jake was a civil engineer whose remarkable career spanned decades and several continents. A proud graduate of Manhattan College, where he earned his BS in Civil Engineering, he went on to work for engineering firm DeLeuw Cather & Company, becoming Senior Vice President of the Northeast Region. After that company was acquired by Parsons Corp., he contributed to and managed projects around the world including Syria, Turkey and Kuwait. During the 1980s and 90s, Jake was responsible for overseeing the transportation engineering, design and construction for the Abu Dhabi Transportation Roads Improvement Project (TRIP). Later, his work brought him closer to home, where he contributed to the Peace Bridge project in Buffalo, New York winning accolades for his creation of a public process to fairly and equitably bring the various stakeholders together to build agreement.

Jake was a kind, gentle and loving man. He found relaxation and great joy in working outdoors. Jake had a deep affection for children, and all kids (and pets) were immediately drawn to him. His love, support and quiet wisdom left a lasting mark on the many people who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a steady presence, a guiding force, and a source of unwavering encouragement to all the lives he touched.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Lamb, his children, Robert, Brian, Daryl, Gregg, Marion, Dona, Kenneth, Stephen, Christine, Patrick and Mary; sixteen grandchildren (he was preceded in death by one grandchild in 2015); and ten great-grandchildren.

Jake was a man of deep faith. He lived a life of humility, service and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday, September 3, from 4 to 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 10:30 am followed by interment at the parish cemetery.
