Vincent Vicari Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 5, 2025.
Vincent Lee Vicari, 68, of Lower Heidelberg Township, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025,

at his home surrounded by his family.

Vince was the loving husband of Saunja M. (Wilson) Vicari for 33 years, supporting her in all her

pursuits and creating a wonderful life together.

Born July 23, 1956, in Reading, PA, Vince was the son of the late Lindy V. and Jeanette N.

(Ciabattoni) Vicari.

Vince was a proud graduate of Muhlenberg High School, Class of 1974 and Villanova University,

Class of 1978.

Growing up, Vince was a multi-sport athlete, earning High School accolades in Football,

Basketball and Baseball. After college, Vince was an avid slow-pitch softball player for 22 years,

competing in the Reading City League and many travel tournaments.

Vince was the owner of several businesses, including Speed Zone with his family and Paul's Tree

Service & Landscaping with his son, Andrew. Vince was passionate about his racing endeavors

and cherished his time collaborating with his father, Lindy, at the Reading Fairgrounds and

Nazareth Speedway. He was owner of Reading Stock Car Association (RSCA), promoting

numerous events and specials at various tracks. Vince, along with his family, owned and

operated Susquehanna Speedway from 1997 to 2003.

Vince's true joy was simply being with his family. They embarked on many travel trips together

up and down the east coast, instilling a tradition of exploring and treasuring the opportunities

to spend time together. He loved to play card games and trivia, talk sports, and could always be

found on the sidelines at his children's sporting events, cheering them on and motivating them

to be the best versions of themselves in everything they pursued. Vince also valued the many

friends throughout his life who became more like family.

Vince is survived by his six children: Andrew V., Margaret E., Lindy J., Peter J., Natalee S., Ellee

H., of Lower Heidelberg Township.

He is also survived by his sister Regina A. (Vicari), wife of late Robert J. Henninger, fiancée of

Michael Weckesser of Kent Island, Maryland and mother of Nicole D. Henninger and John R.,

husband of Anna (Simpson) Henninger; and brother John L., husband of Michelle (Andrusiak)

Vicari of Muhlenberg Township and father of Giavanna V.

Visitation with the family will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8 at Holy

Guardian Angels R.C. Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. A Mass of Christian

Burial will follow at 12 p.m. Graveside burial will take place following the funeral service at

Sinking Spring Cemetery, 26 N. Hull St., Sinking Spring, PA 19608.

I´ll always remember playing softball with Vince in the early 1980s and spending time with his wonderful family at the Reading Fair Bingo. He was a terrific player and an even better person. My deepest condolences to all of you. Dan McCallum

8/28/25 Saunja and family... I just learned of Vince's passing. I'm so sorry you all weren't granted more time together. I had a lot of fond memories of him from 7th through 12th grades-as you know, he was twice my size, and the V's almost always sat in front of me in homeroom and some classes - seeing over/around him was a challenge for me. Loved his laugh and sense of humor. I hope you all cherish your memories with him and carry on his legacy by telling his life stories to those who were not fortunate enough to have known him. I was also wondering if Vince had ever met Robert Francis Prevost (now Pope Leo) when he was a junior at Villanova (Robert-the Pope was a senior there in 1977). Sending condolences and love to all of you. Bryan E. Zeiner

RIP Vince, will always remember those Fairgrounds days and racing events promoted by you and your Dad. Help Dad get that big track up there ready for racing.
