Viola Benson Obituary
20, 2024. Born in Woodbridge, NJ, she lived and raised her family
in South Amboy, NJ before retiring to Whiting, NJ.
Viola is reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, Lawrence
A. Benson, Sr., her mother, Elizabeth Kovacs, her brothers Joseph
Kovacs and James Kovacs, her sisters Goldie Balog and Betty
Kovacs and daughter-in-law Moira Benson.
Viola loved spending time with her family and friends, music,
singing and exploring her Hungarian heritage with the Hungarian
American Club in Whiting. She spent many years singing in the
choir at St. Mary's Church in South Amboy as well as at St.
Elizabeth Ann Seton in Whiting.
Vi, (Mom, Mom-Mom) is survived by and held in the hearts of her
loving family, sons Lawrence A. Benson, Jr., Michael Benson and
his wife Lisa Benson, daughter Laura M. Benson O'Regan and her
husband Neil O'Regan, grandsons Tim Benson, Michael Benson
and Ryan Benson, great-grandson Robert Benson. Also Viola is
survived by sisters in law, Alice Benson and Dorothy Kovacs as
well as many nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 9 am to
10:30 am at Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 66 Lacey Road,
Whiting, NJ followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:45 am at
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 30 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting NJ,
08759.
Burial will follow at 1 pm at The Brigadier General William C.
Doyle Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Viola's name to St.
Jude Children's Research Hospital.(www.stjude.org)
