Viola Joan Huffman

Viola Joan Huffman (nee Hetsler), 98, of North Ridgeville, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026. Viola was born on April 21, 1927, in Polk, OH to Homer and Roxie (nee Aber) Hetsler. As a young child, her family moved to Elyria and settled in North Ridgeville, where she resided for over 80 years.

Viola attended and graduated from North Ridgeville High School, class of 1945. In 1949, she married her sweetheart Robert Huffman. Together they raised their family and Viola loved being a homemaker. She was an excellent cook, baker, and seamstress.

Viola worked for Joann Fabrics and New to You Resale Shop in Elyria. Using her talent and skill for sewing and use of fabrics, she created crafts to give as gifts to family and loved ones.

She was a faithful lifelong member of Center Church, formerly known as the Elyria Church of the Nazarene. Viola had a profound love for the Lord and loved to share her testimony with everyone. She served on the Sunday School Board, as the Sunday Secretary, and Sunday School Treasurer for over 50 years. Her church services were recognized, and she was awarded the Service Above Self Award. For many years Viola organized the Bereavement dinners following church funerals.

Viola loved to root for her Cleveland Hometown sport teams, the Cavaliers, and Guardians. She always made it a priority to attend all of her children's and grandchildren's sporting events locally as well as travelling out of state to support them.

Survived by children Tim Huffman (Pam) of Norwalk, Luanne Wack (Alan) of Elyria; daughter in law Linda Jackson of Florida; grandchildren Heather, Nicki, Brent, Justen, Jordan, Chad, Jaron and Savannah; many great grandchildren; siblings Norman Hetsler of Elyria, Patsy Lester (Ben) of Priest River, Idaho and Paul Hetsler of Elyria; sister in law Betty Hestler of Lagrange; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Robert W. Huffman (passed 2018), son Randy Huffman (passed 1979), brother Gerald "Jerry" Hetsler, sisters in law Beverly and Patricia Hetsler, and parents Homer and Roxie Hetsler.

Memorial contributions in Viola's name may be forward to the Center Church, 1107 Clemens Ave., Elyria, OH 44035.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 4pm at Center Church, 1107 Clemens Ave., Elyria, with a memorial visitation an hour prior.
