Violet June Lester

Glade Spring, VA - Violet June Lester, age 85, passed away on October 8, 2022, at Johnston Memorial Hospital, exactly one month after the passing of her sister Ann. She was born on July 11, 1937, to Ernest and Viola Lester. June kept the books for Lester Brothers Dairy for many years and helped the boys in the tobacco barn. June was a faithful member of Old Glade Presbyterian Church, where she served as Sunday School secretary for over 50 years. Along with her sisters, June helped prepare those farm family meals we will all miss. The holidays won't be the same without June's "green salad". June enjoyed participating in the Washington County Fair and proudly displayed her numerous blue ribbons.
The last of 10 siblings, June was welcomed in heaven by those who preceded her in death: in addition to her parents, her sisters, Martha Lester, Lucille Kelly, Agnes Lester, Bea Mason and Ann Lester and brothers, Roland Lester, J. G. Lester, Fred Lester, and Scott Lester, all of Glade Spring, as well as infant siblings Andrew and Elizabeth.
June is survived by nephews Randy (Janet) Lester, Butch Lester, Jason (Cristie) Lester, Allen (Carolyn) Kelly; great nieces and nephews Jacob Lester, Meagan (Travis) Brannon, Jonathan Kelly and Brooke Higgins; sisters-in-law Linda Lester and Peggy Lester, and niece Tammy Parks.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Old Glade Presbyterian Church cemetery with Reverend Tim Bird officiating.
