Cadillac - Violet "Joann" Lowell, of Falmouth, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Sunnyside Senior Living. She was 92.
She was born on November 13, 1932, in Clio, MI to Norwood Howard and Clara Marie (Tolles) Brown. Joann was able to grow up in the Clio area where her parents built and ran the bowling alley. With family business as her playground, Joann became quite the avid bowler in earlier years. She also was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star and could be found enjoying the occasional game of Bingo. Joann was also very talented at crochet, often spending time on her next project from blankets to pillow covers. Joann entered into marriage with Guy Junior Shank on June 21, 1950, together they had three children. Later she married Kenneth Wayne Lowell celebrating 29 years together before his death in 2012.
Joann is survived by her three children, Ron (Kathy) Shank of Columbiaville, MI, Peggy (Vaughn) Vanwormer of Clio, and Larry (Cathie) Shank of Merritt; six beloved grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Harley (Andra) Brown of Clio; as well as many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Guy Shank; second husband, Ken Lowell; two sisters, Norma and Geraldine; and granddaughters, Teresa Vanwormer and Trina Shank.
Per her wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Eastern Star.
