Virginia Lee Andersen was born October 8, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Helen Brasher and John Myron Lee. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2025 in Lehi, Utah at the Pointe Meadows Health and Rehab Center. Virginia lived in Salt Lake City, Utah through her childhood years. She started piano lessons at 8 years old. By eleven she was playing the pump organ for Sunday School. She always used her musical abilities to the enjoyment and enrichment of others, whether it was teaching grade school, fulfilling her church callings, or playing duets with her husband. On December 19, 1957, she married Terrell Neils Andersen, and together they raised three children: Bill, Suzie, and John. Virginia played the clarinet in the University of Utah Marching band. She got her bachelor's degree in elementary education. She taught piano and grade school for a number of years in Salt Lake City and Oklahoma. Virginia has always been a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many church callings including Primary President, Relief Society President, and being choir director, pianist, and ward organist. She loved going to the temple. Terry and Virginia lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Holladay, Utah, Edmond, Oklahoma, and resided in Riverton, Utah for the last 26 years. Virginia loved people and parties. Since people and parties go together, she was always planning a party, looking forward to a party and being the life of the party. The holidays were always a really big deal to Virginia and decorating the house, planning surprises and making crafts for everyone made life special. Virginia was an avid card player. She loved to win! Virginia was always her husband's number one fan, the person who went to every performance when he played in the Riverton Orchestra and Jazz Band and the Murray Concert Band. She enjoyed rock hunting with her husband. Terry and Virginia were world travelers and completed their goal of visiting all 50 states. Her three favorite trips were seeing Mount Denali, Australia, and a South African Safari. Virginia lost her vision in the early 2000's and losing her ability to play the piano and drive, two of her favorite things to do, was a real hard test for her. The last paragraph of the short life summary she wrote was "We were blessed with our family and lifelong friends. We loved our home, neighborhood and ward. I'm sad to leave so many loved ones for now but anxious to be with my Mom, Dad and loved ones that have passed on." She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Terry Andersen; son Bill (Lorie) Andersen; daughter Suzie (Lynn) Marchant; son John (May) Andersen; 9 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and special friends. She was preceded in death by both parents and a brother, Bob Lee. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening, August 28, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located 12120 S. 1300 W., Riverton, Utah 84065. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, August 29, 2025 with a viewing prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. The family of Virginia wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends, neighbors, and extended family who showed love and compassion toward Virginia. Also, Quality Home Health and Hospice, particularly nurse Meagan Naujoks for her extraordinary care.
