Virginia Davino, 89, of Punta Gorda, FL and Pound Ridge, NY died peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025. She was the loving wife of the late Frank S. Davino.
Mrs. Davino was born on February 11, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY; a daughter of the late Carmine and Theresa (Tedesco) D'Amato. Virginia's large family faced financial challenges, and she sacrificed educational goals in order to work and contribute to her family. She met Frank Davino at the age of 14, waited for him to return from active service in the Korean War, and married him a few weeks before her 19th birthday. They were married for 46 years, until he passed away. Virginia enjoyed cooking, watching wildlife, and growing orchids.
Mrs. Davino is survived by her four children; Neil Davino, Frank Davino, Robert Davino and Suzanne Davino; her grandchildren, Neil F. Davino and his wife, Alessia, Rune Davino-Collins and their partner, Sarah Moskowitz, Todd DeSimone and his wife, Brandis, and Christopher Davino. She is also survived by her great grandchildren; Ella Rose Davino, Jason Tyler Davino, Blakely DeSimone and Ryan DeSimone. Finally, Mrs. Davino is survived by her brother, Victor D'Amato and his wife, Bernadette, as well as the spouses and children of her predeceased siblings, e.g., Peter D'Amato, Horace D'Amato, Richard D'Amato, Joseph D'Amato and Marie LaMacchia.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary's Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Ridgefield.
